Hour of Code
Did you know that this week, December 7-13, is Hour of Code Week? The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to expose your student to code and show that anybody can learn the basics. I challenge you and your student to try computer coding this week. You can use http://khanacademy.org (an account is required) or http://code.org to get started! Happy coding!
A BIG thank you to our fabulous parent helpers for creating our winning Red Ribbon Week door!
Renaissance Home Connect
A letter was sent home with your student today that contains information on how to connect to Renaissance (Accelerated Reader). You can use the website, username, and password to connect to your student's AR account. This will enable you to receive an e-mailed report every time your student takes an AR quiz.
TENMARKS-Online Math Program
We will be using TenMarks, an online math program to provide your student with opportunities for additional math practice. On TenMarks, your student can practice and master math concepts one topic at a time. They can work on assignments I make, or choose to practice on their own, anytime. While they are practicing, your student will have access to hints if they get stuck, as well as a short video tutorial if they need more detailed explanation. I have set up your student with their own individual account. He or she can access TenMarks from any computer to continue working on the program at their own pace. The TenMarks password/login information sheet was sent home, Tuesday, September 8, 2015.
Binders & Organization
On Monday, August 17, 2015, students assembled their binders during class time. Your student should have a 1" binder with 5 tabs that are labeled as follows:
ELA, math, science, S.S., and homework. This binder will be used daily for the entire school year. If your student did not have his/her supplies or was absent, he/she can bring in his/her supplies and I will help him/her get set-up during morning recess.

Supplies & Donations
This is the recommended 4th grade supply list:
Our classroom can always use donations of Kleenex boxes, paper towels, & reams of copy paper.
Thank you for your support!!!
I use a classroom behavior management system called Class Dojo. Each student is able to earn points based on classroom choices/behavior. Each student can also lose points for not making good choices.
Your student received the sign-up sheet for Class Dojo on Monday, August, 17, 2015. This sheet contained the information needed to access your student's account. By using this code, you will be able to sign-up to receive behavior reports and monitor your student's choices in the classroom.

*water bottles and aluminum cans for recycling (ALL money goes towards 5th grade science camp.) NO glass please!
